Ideas for Personal FundraisingPersonal fundraising is VERY important. You can get your ENTIRE brigade paid for if done correctly. Ideas include:

Small donations do add up Empowered Post the link to your fundraising page on Facebook, twitter, etc. Sober DrivingSober drive on weekends on for an organization you’re in and post on Facebook, UConn Facebook pages Canning Find grocery stores, shops, mall areas etc. that you can get permission to can at and stand out side with a few people with a container and poster Try doing this especially when you go home during the holidays Small Businesses Ask small businesses, restaurants and shops for donations using the business letter sample Leave donations cans with donations in small businesses |
Additional Sources of Funding and Matching DonationsThere are many additional sources of funding: Your immediate and extended family Your friends and neighbors from your hometown Clergy from your hometown Your favorite high school teachers and advisers Your friends at college Fraternities and sororities on campus Your friends on Facebook, Twitter and other social-media sites Companies where your friends and family work (for matching gifts) Your doctors offices Local businesses that cater to college students Local businesses with an affinity for your project Local civic clubs such as Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis Local religious organizations such as churches, temples and mosques Your university’s School for Public Health Your college’s Student Affairs Office or Study Abroad Program Your school’s Alumni Association
A great way to help with fundraising is through a matching donations/gift program. Ask for donations from businesses and companies. This means that if an employer of a company with a matching donation program decides to make a donation of say, $100 to Global Brigades, the company will match the donor's gift at a 1:1 ratio, thus doubling the total donation to $200. Ask parents, friends, and other students who work for businesses if they have this program since it is an easy way to increase donations. Examples are insurance companies (Aetna, The Hartford) , Bank of America, Macy’s, Gap, Microsoft, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, etc. **Empowered (the website used for raising funds) now has matching donations included within the donation submission form!! |
